Meshaal in Turkey for talks with Erdogan

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Meshaal and senior Hamas officials yesterday met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara, Quds Press reported.

Senior Hamas leader Izzat Al-Reshiq wrote on Facebook that Meshaal and the Hamas delegation are on an official visit to Turkey. He did reveal the purpose of the visit.

Earlier yesterday, senior Hamas member Osama Hamdan said Meshaal is to discuss the developments in the Palestinian issue with Turkish officials including the ongoing Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.

Earlier this month, Meshaal met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Doha and it was revealed that he had been invited to visit Moscow at a later date.

Hamas officials also recently met with Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz. An official Hamas visit is also due to take place to the kingdom.
