Palestinian resistance movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad met yesterday in the Gaza Strip and discussed the latest developments surrounding the ceasefire with Israel, the Anadolu Agency reported.

In a joint statement, the movements said their leaders discussed “several important matters and how to deal with the latest political issues relating to the Palestinian cause.”

According to the statement, they also conducted discussions regarding ending the nine-year Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.

Last Thursday, Hamas said it briefed all the Palestinian factions about its meetings and discussions with different international parties, including Europeans, regarding a permanent truce.

It said that it laid out detailed explanations about the content of the meetings with former Quartet representative Tony Blair.
