Parliamentary speaker reiterates Iran’s support for Syria

The speaker of Iran’s parliament has reiterated his country’s support for Syria’s government, including humanitarian aid. Ali Larijani insisted on Wednesday that Iranian aid will continue because the government in Tehran regards it as a duty to support Syria.

Larijani made his comments during a meeting with Syrian Minister of Health Nizar Yazici in Tehran. He pointed out that cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in the provision of health and medical assistance is a positive step.

“At the present time, the situation in Syria is unique and I hope that soon we will witness the victory of the Syrian government and people in the fight against terrorist groups,” he added. “The Islamic Republic has always helped the Syrian government and nation during the current crisis and will spare no efforts in helping in the future.”

In response, Yazici said that he appreciated Iran’s help for the Syrian people, stressing that they are in dire need of medical and pharmaceutical support.
