Turkey to join US-led anti-Daesh coalition

August 26, 2015 at 10:18 am

Turkey and the United States have finalised technical discussions about Ankara’s involvement in a coalition fighting Daesh in Iraq and Syria.

“Technical negotiations of the agreement were finalised between Turkey and the US with respect to operations against Daesh,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavasoglu told reporters yesterday.

Cavasoglu did not give further details about Turkey’s role in the coalition.

The Turkish minister said a deal was signed between Turkish and US defence chiefs.

He added that the two countries will soon launch comprehensive air operations to flush Daesh fighters from a zone in northern Syria.
