The Palestinian foreign ministry yesterday strongly condemned Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon after he revealed that Israeli security forces know who is responsible for the death of three members of the Dawabsheh family in a house fire two months ago but they will not prosecute them.
The ministry said in a statement yesterday: “These statements show the true face of the Netanyahu government and reflect its true extremist policies of Judaisation and expansionism as well as the extent to which Israel is careless towards Palestinian lives.”
“The remarks prove the absence of a true peace partner and represent a brazen challenge to the international peace effort to will to revive negotiations between the two sides and indulge in the destruction of the two-state solution.”
The ministry called for Ya’alon to be boycotted and to be held accountable for his racist remarks “which encourage the killing of Palestinians by easing punishment against the killers”.
Ya’alon revealed that Israel had identified those responsible for the arson attack that killed three members of the Palestinian Dawabsheh family two months ago but has not arrested them to protect the identity of their sources.
Three settlers were put under administrative detention following the attack.
