Deputy Chief of the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas Mousa Abu-Marzouk arrived in Cairo yesterday evening after a visit to Beirut, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported.

According to Hamas sources, Abu-Marzouk is to meet with Egyptian officials in the intelligence services who follow up on Palestinian affairs.

The Hamas leader will discuss the issue of the four Palestinian members of his organisation who were abducted in Egypt while on their way to Cairo airport. The men were abducted on 19 August just 200 metres off the Rafah Crossing. They were heading to Turkey for treatment.

Abu-Marzouk is also due to discuss, with officials from Islamic Jihad, details of the internal Palestinian reconciliation and the possibility of reopening the Rafah Crossing. Islamic Jihad has been working as mediator between Egypt and Hamas after relations between the two were strained following the abduction of the four Hamas members.

Recently, Egypt blamed Israel for the abduction of the four men and said it had nothing to do with the it.
