Abbas asks Sisi to hold PNC meeting in Egypt

September 16, 2015 at 9:25 am

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to host the Palestinian National Council (PNC) emergency meeting in Egypt, senior Egyptian sources revealed yesterday.

The council’s meeting has been delayed until further notice to allow all of its members to attend and participate in electing new members to the PLO’s Executive Committee after Abbas and nine others resigned last month.

The sources told Quds Net that, during their meeting in Cairo last week, Al-Sisi told Abbas that he would consider the request and respond in the coming days.

Jordan refused to host the Palestinian National Council meeting saying it is an internal Palestinian affair and Kingdom cannot interfere in it.
