Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is reported to have left Cairo, Egypt, yesterday evening on his way to Tel Aviv, Israel, according to an Egyptian diplomat.
The diplomatic source, who preferred not to be named, told Turkey’s Anadolu Agency that this is the third visit of this nature by the former British diplomat within the past three weeks during which he met with a number of Egyptian officials to discuss the latest developments in the region and ways to resume peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Blair visited Egypt on 30 August for two days and then on 6 September for two hours.
He had previously announced that he stepped down as the Quartet’s peace envoy to the Middle East and that he will serve as the honorary president of the European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation to address anti-Semitism in Europe.
