The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine has called for internationalising the issue of hunger striking Palestinian prisoners in Israel and announced that it launching a wide solidarity campaign for their cause until they get released.

In a press release made available to Quds Press on Sunday, the Democratic Front called on the Palestinian leadership “to act immediately to raise the issue of administrative prisoners to the [UN] Security Council and the International Criminal Court in the context of internationalising the issue of prisoners in the occupation’s prisons so as to criminalise the Israeli authorities’ policy [of administrative detention].”

The left-wing Palestinian organisation called for making the prisoners’ case “an international public opinion cause” in order to undermine the occupation’s legitimacy, reinforce the boycott campaign against Israel and isolate Tel Aviv from the international community based on Israel’s failure to abide by international laws and conventions.

The Democratic Front warned against possible harm that may happen to the hunger striking prisoners, and said they hold the Israeli authorities fully responsible for the health and safety of the prisoners.

It also reaffirmed its “confidence that prisoners in the occupation’s prisons, including administrative prisoners, can win the battle against the prisons’ administrations.
