Rouhani: Iran is ‘ready to help bring democracy to Syria, Yemen’

Iran is “ready to help bring democracy to Syria and Yemen,” AlkhaleejOnline reported President Hassan Rouhani saying yesterday.

Speaking to the UN General Assembly, Rouhani said that his country started a “new stage” regarding its relationship with countries around the world.

Adding that Iran does not need nuclear weapons and described the sanctions imposed on it as “unfair”.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported him saying: “We are prepared to assist in the eradication of terrorism and in paving the way for democracy.”

According to Reuters, he blamed the crisis in the Middle East on the United States’ occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as Washington’s support for Israel against Palestine.
