Morocco condemns Jewish settler attacks against Palestinians

Morocco has condemned the systematic attacks by Jewish settlers, backed by the Israeli army, against unarmed Palestinians.

In a statement published in Al-Maghribia newspaper on Wednesday, the ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation said that Morocco is following with concern the serious escalation of tension and violence in the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of the provocation of the settlers.

“The violation of the Palestinian people’s right to freedom of movement, the confiscation of their property and arbitrary arrests will inflame the Muslims in the Arab and Islamic world and threaten security and stability in the Middle East,” the statement continued. The actions of the settlers, insisted the Moroccan government, are a “flagrant violation” of international resolutions.

Morocco called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and put pressure on Israel to respect and implement the relevant international resolutions in order to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people.
