October 8, 2015 at 1:03 pm

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has cancelled a planned visit to Germany due to the current deteriorating security situation in Israel and the ongoing clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, Felesteen newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper reported Israeli radio saying: “The prime minister decided to cancel a visit to Berlin planned for tomorrow [Thursday] on the grounds of the security situation.”

According to the channel, the Israeli government cancelled a planned joint meeting between Tel Aviv and Berlin to mark 50 years of mutual diplomatic relations.

Netanyahu headed a security meeting in the headquarters of the Israeli police in Jerusalem to evaluate the “security situation in the city”.

The occupied West Bank and Jerusalem have been witnessing escalating tensions as a result of the continuous Israeli desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and rise in aggression on Palestinians.
