OIC supports national dialogue in Sudan

October 13, 2015 at 8:23 am

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called on the Sudanese parties that did not participate in the national dialogue conference which began on Saturday and those that still carry weapons to “invest in this opportunity to achieve peace in Sudan by participating in the comprehensive national dialogue process”.

OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Ambassador Abdullah Alam who participated in the national dialogue’s opening session said in a statement yesterday that dialogue is the only option to resolve the country’s issues, and that the refusal of dialogue means a return to the violence that has brought only instability to Sudan and disrupted development in the country.

Alam stressed the organisation’s commitment to harness all its capabilities to support constructive dialogue between the people of Sudan and promote peace and stability in the country.
