Palestinian university closes due to Israeli threats to storm it

The Board of Trustees of the Palestine Technical University – Khadoorie in the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem decided to suspend work and close its doors Israel threatened to storm the campus, Quds Press reported.

Head of the Board of Trustees Ahmed Ammar said in a statement yesterday that the university is to close its doors until Sunday because of the “continuous Israeli aggression” on its campus over the past few days.

“This decision came to keep the university students safe from the bullets of the Israeli occupation,” he said.

Yesterday, Quds Press said the university was evacuated after Israel threated to storm its campus after clashes took place around it. Around 20 students were wounded in the clashes at the western gate of the university.

Later, Israeli troops stormed the university and based themselves metres away from its headquarters.

Quds Press said that the Israeli troops used live bullets and tear gas during the clashes.
