The Turkish foreign ministry summoned the US Ambassador to Turkey John Bass and Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov separately yesterday and warned them about Turkey’s position towards the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported.

Yesterday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu strongly criticised the US’s military aid to the PYD which Ankara considers the Syrian extension of the outlawed PKK organisation, stressing that Turkey will take all necessary measures to ensure its security.

“Turkey will not accept any cooperation with terrorist groups fighting against Turkey. We have shared this with the US and Russia,” Davutoglu said.

According to the prime minister, the Democratic Union has misused the opportunity in Kobani, stressing: “The group cannot win legitimacy just for fighting the Islamic State extremist group.”
