October 24, 2015 at 11:44 am

The public relations officer of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps announced on Friday that his country has increased the number of its troops fighting beside those of Bashar Al-Assad in Syria, Anadolu has reported.

“Iran has increased the number of its troops to keep up with the new stage of the ground war in Syria,” said Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif.

He denied media reports that 15 soldiers from the Revolutionary Guards had been killed in Syria. Insisting that only two have been killed, he identified them as Abdullah Bakeri and Amin Kareemi.

According to Iranian news website seratnews.ir, however, an officer called Rida Hawwari was killed fighting alongside regime forces. The same website also announced the death of eight other Iranians in clashes during the past few days.
