Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon has travelled late on Sunday to the United States for a three- day working visit, an Israeli channel reported.

Israel’s Channel Seven reported that “Ya’alon will discuss security relations between the United States and Israel and the tense situation in the Middle East, especially Syria.”

According to the channel, Ya’alon is scheduled to meet with his US counterpart Ashton Carter, where the two will discuss US military support for Israel, as well as visiting a number of US military factories.

Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported that last week that Israeli and American negotiators are putting together a plan to increase the annual US military aid to Israel by as much as $1 billion, on top of the current $3.1 billion.
