October 28, 2015 at 2:09 pm

The lawyer presiding over the defence committee for the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, said that the Secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party Ibrahim Hussein has not yet appeared before any investigative body, and that his whereabouts remain unknown following his arrest on Monday evening.

In his comments for Anadolu Agency, Abdel-Maksoud said: “We have not been informed by any investigative bodies whether the official investigations on Ibrahim and those who were arrested with him have started or not. Also we do not know if he will be interrogated in his hometown Alexandria or in Cairo.”

The Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday evening that the security forces arrested both Hussein, the Secretary General of the Freedom and Justice Party, and Al-Rifai Hassan, one of the Muslim Brotherhood leaders, in the area of Sidi Abdel Rahman in Marsa Matrouh Governorate.

The Muslim Brotherhood confirmed the news of Hussein’s arrest, and has said that it holds the Egyptian authorities responsible for the safety of its detainees.
