Jordanian policeman kills 3 security trainers in Amman

Three public security trainers were shot dead by a Jordanian policeman in a training centre in the east of Amman yesterday, State Minister and spokesperson Mohamed Al-Momani announced.

In an official statement, Al-Momani said: “A Jordanian policeman opened fire at the trainers and their colleagues, killing three of them and wounding six others, including one who is in a serious condition.”

Two of those killed were American while the third was a South African citizen. A further two Americans were wounded along with four Jordanians.

Al-Momani said police dealt with the incident, killing the attacker and an investigation into the attack has been launched.

Meanwhile, the American embassy said in a statement that it received the news of the “security incident” and has been in contact with the Jordanian security services to follow up on the situation.
