Tunisia threatens to arrest Kamal Helbawy, Mokhtar Nouh

A member of Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights Mokhtar Nouh said he was surprised to discover Tunisian authorities are planning to arrest him if he enters the country.

“I was surprised two days to discover that my name and that of Dr Kamal Helbawy are included in the list of anticipated arrivals as I was preparing to travel to Tunisia,” Nouh told the ONA news site.

“I do not know the reason behind the decision,” he added.

Nouh explained that he had tried to meet with the Tunisian ambassador in Cairo, “but to no avail, therefore I had to cancel the whole trip”.

He said he believes the Ennahda party are behind the decision.

Kamal Helbawy is the founder of the Muslim League in Britain and the secretary-general of the Islamic Unity Forum in Europe.
