Video exposes Al-Ahram newspaper fabricated story

November 12, 2015 at 12:48 pm

A new leaked video has provided proof that a picture which apparently shows a British tourist yelling at her country’s ambassador published by the pro-coup Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram is a fake.

The newspaper published the picture with the caption: “A tourist yelled at the British ambassador saying: ‘We want to continue our holiday and we do not want to leave now’.”

However, a video published on YouTube shows the tourist asking Ambassador John Casson: “We want to go home, what is the problem? What is the real problem? Why are we here?”

She added: “There was a security problem this morning and you are now here to resolve it. Why are way here then while the rest of the people have gone home?”

She yelled at him: “They said to us that the British planes landed in Sharm El-Sheikh airport. The Egyptian government has not prevented the landing of the planes … we want to go back home.”

“We have our tickets and the planes are in the airport. So, what is precisely the problem?”

Since Al-Ahram ran this story, Russian and British planes have evacuated tourists from the Sharm el-Sheikh resort.
