Egyptian court to decide on withdrawing Ghonim’s nationality in January

November 16, 2015 at 12:19 pm

Egypt’s Administrative Court has adjourned the decision on whether or not to strip activist Wael Ghonim of his Egyptian nationality, Rassd.com reported yesterday.

Egyptian lawyer Samir Sabry filed a lawsuit against Ghonim claiming that the former Google engineer “deceived the Egyptians” and is “supported by the United State”.

“Ghonim was working as the Head of Marketing for Google in the Middle East and introduced himself as a nationalist and revolutionist, but later on it was revealed that he was moved by foreign powers, mainly the Americans,” Sabry said.

The lawyer added: “On 25 January, 2011, Ghonim was at his office in the headquarters of the American [company] Google in Dubai. The next day, he travelled to Egypt to take part in demonstrations of 28 January… But his travel was sudden, quick and secret.”

“Ghonim had never been a partner in the revolution and he never lived the sufferings of the Egyptians in order to speak on their behalf. He was made by the Americans and was planted among the people in the country. He deceived all, but was quickly revealed,” Sabry’s statement concluded.
