Europe’s largest department store pulls settlement products from shelves

November 23, 2015 at 10:01 am

Europe’s largest department store, the Kaufhaus des Westens, also known as KaDeWe, in Berlin has removed settlement products from its shelves. The move follows a European Union decision to label “Israeli” goods manufactured in the West Bank and Golan Heights settlements more accurately to reflect their origin in occupied territory.

The store’s spokeswoman, Petra Fladenhofer, told German magazine Der Spiegel on Friday that the products will be returned to the shelves “after fixing the labels.” She did not elaborate on the nature of the products removed from the shelves in the store, reported Haaretz.
