Egypt is drowning; who will save it?

November 27, 2015 at 11:16 am

The flood-water drowning of Alexandria, the Bride of the Mediterranean, is a metaphor for Egypt sinking on every level, including its political, economic and social aspects. Our beloved country has reached rock bottom. Is there anyone who can rescue it from drowning further and revive it once more?

The leader of the coup, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, has played with the components of this great country and turned it into a safe haven for Zionism and an additional emirate of the UAE, which imposes its desires and domestic and foreign policies on Cairo, as well as its Zionist agenda. The UAE is buying Egyptian land for the lowest prices possible, and has already purchased a number of satellite TV stations and newspapers and established research centres in order to dictate its media policies. The aim of this is to numb the minds and consciousness of the Egyptians in order for the state to remain subjugated to the UAE. This is possible because the Emirates provides Egypt with money that it can withhold at any time, should the coup leader want to raise his head (if he ever becomes bold enough to do so). He couldn’t do it, though, for it was the Emiratis who brought him to power in Egypt, funded his brutal coup with billions of dollars, supported him internally and promoted him abroad after buying European and African recognition for him and his international legitimacy.

Al-Sisi was then obliged to return the favour, so he gave Israel more than it could ever have dreamed of, according to one Israeli army officer, who added that the strategic coordination between the two countries had reached unprecedented levels since the peace agreement was signed between Cairo and Tel Aviv. After Hosni Mubarak acted as Israel’s strategic treasure, the coup-led government is giving them what even Mubarak did not dare. Al-Sisi’s government has intensified the blockade on Gaza and is now flooding the border zone with seawater, damaging the infrastructure, houses and agriculture due to subsidence, and poisoning the soil in the process.

The coup-led government also served Israel a gift on a golden platter by destroying the tunnels described as “Gaza’s lifeline”, and establishing a buffer zone in Sinai in order for the people of Israel to live peacefully and sleep well. To do this, it destroyed homes and bulldozed land in Rafah, displacing its indigenous people, for Al-Sisi had promised that he would not allow anyone to threaten our neighbours. Did he achieve the complete satisfaction of Israel or will he still be asked for more from the top funder of the coup, the UAE?

In a document leaked recently from Mohammed Bin Zayed’s office and published by British journalist David Hearst, the de facto ruler of the UAE expressed his anger and frustration with Al-Sisi, saying that the coup leader must know that Zayed is not a cash machine. He also stated that he has given him $25 billion so far but he has not achieved anything nor has he ensured that their investments would be established as they had asked, saying that he should rule Egypt.

It is clear, therefore, that Mohammed Bin Zayed is no longer content or pleased with ruling Egypt from behind the scenes. He wants to play a leading role on the main stage, and he has every right to want to do so. Why should he pump all of this money (the Emiratis’ money) into this puppet, who is on the verge of falling due to his many failures and disappointments? The true puppet master should appear and cast the puppet aside, or even break it.

However, you will not take control of Egypt, Bin Zayed; you will not get what you dreamed of or what you spent billions of dollars on. You and the man you spent all your money on will be heartbroken and you will be haunted by the curses of the martyrs. You will only gain shame and disgrace and you will be in the dustbins of history soon enough.
