Female Palestinian prisoner Ihsan Dababseh, 28, from the West Bank city of Hebron has gone on hunger strike in protest against being moved to Damon Prison, Arab48.com reported yesterday.
According to the Ahrar Centre for Prisoners and Human Rights, Dababseh has been on hunger strike for five days. Her family knew about her strike when they visited her on Monday.
The family said that Dababseh should have been moved to Damon Prison on Tuesday where the Israeli authorities decided to open a new female department after the increasing number of female prisoners in Hasharon Prison.
She is being held under difficult conditions and insists on remaining with the other prisoners, her family said. She called on her legal team to object to her removal from Hasharon.
Dababseh has been inside Israeli jails since 13 October 2014. She has previously spent two years in Israeli jails and was released in 2009.
