One of the Middle East’s largest retail companies has suspended the sales of products by US Republican candidate Donald Trump in response to his calls to ban all Muslims from entering America.

Landmark entered into an exclusive agreement with Trump Home Furnishings for the sale of products including lighting, mirrors and jewelry boxes in its Lifestyle stores in Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The group’s CEO Sachin Mundhwa said in a statement: “In light of the recent statements made by the presidential candidate in the US media, we have suspended sale of all products from the Trump Home décor range.”

The group did not give details of the value of the contract.

On Monday, Trump called for Muslims to be prevented from entering the United States in response to the shooting incident which was carried out by a Muslim couple in California last week and which killed 14 people.

Trump’s calls have stirred widespread criticism from the White House, and other Republican candidates. In the UK over 370,000 people have signed a petition to ban Trump from entering the country.

Lifestyle has more than 190 stores in the Middle East, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya and Tanzania.
