Ghannouchi: Internal difference will not affect Nidaa Tounes’s position

The head of Tunisia’s Ennahda movement Sheikh Rashid Ghannouchi said Nidaa Tounes’s internal differences cannot change their position in government because that’s been “determined by elections”.

“The internal difference among members of one of the ruling coalition parties cannot cancel or change the results of the elections,” Ghannouchi explained in remarks on the sidelines of the movement’s Shura council meeting which concluded yesterday in Hammamet, north-east of Tunisia.

Ghannouchi stressed how important it is “to strengthen national unity and ensure the country’s stability in order to achieve development and provide job opportunities for young people and face terrorism.”

The Tunisian official said his party’s Shura Council will announce the date of the movement’s conference soon, explaining that it is expected to take place during the first quarter of 2016.

Tunisia is run by a coalition government made up of members of Nidaa Tounes and Ennahda.
