Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi announced a seven-day ceasefire starting Tuesday afternoon across the war-torn country, according to SABA news agency.
The presidential decision comes in response to a request by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and coincides with peace talks in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led international coalition said it would comply with the ceasefire, as long as the Houthis and pro-Saleh forces do not violate the agreement.
Representatives from the Yemeni government and the Houthi militia are set to meet Tuesday in Geneva under in hopes of settling the armed conflict in the country.
