Egypt to rule on entry of Hamas members in January

December 16, 2015 at 12:00 pm

An Egyptian court has set 19 January as the date for a hearing to decide whether to ban Hamas members from entering Egypt or not, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

The expected ban would be temporary until the completion of an investigation into the death of 16 Egyptian troops in 2012 near the Rafah Crossing.

Egyptian Lawyer Sameer Sabry filed the complaint against Hamas.

In January, an Egyptian court banned the armed wing of Hamas, declaring it a “terrorist” group over its alleged links with jihadists behind deadly attacks on security forces in the Sinai Peninsula.

Hamas denounced the Egyptian rulings, stressing that it has no connection to any of the attacks.
