At least 36 people were killed in a massacre committed by Russian warplanes yesterday in the Syrian province of Idlib, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
“The raids, probably Russian, targeted former regime positions now held by the Army of Conquest,” the observatory’s chief, Rami Abdel Rahman said.
“Dozens of people, mostly civilians, were wounded in the raids,” he added.
The Army of Conquest is a coalition that includes Al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate Al-Nusra Front and Islamist groups such as its ally Ahrar Al-Sham.
According to the London-based group, the number of casualties is likely to rise as many of those wounded in the attack are in a serious condition in hospital with reports of more dead and missing persons.
The regime forces are reported to have bombed areas on the outskirts of Khan Shaykhun in Idlib killing three people and wounding many more.
The group reported activists as saying that a man was killed from the town of Beit Sahem in rural Damascus after a regime sniper targeted him.
