Potential independent MP announces on air that he is leaving Egypt

Journalist and potential independent MP Tawfiq Okasha sent a message to the Egyptian people on Saturday saying, “Do not wait for the good, dark is coming.” Speaking on Al-Fara’een TV, he said that he worked for the interest of Egypt and the Egyptians, not for self-interest, and that he is leaving the country.

He explained that the aggression of the Egyptian security services against him has not stopped. He added that he has given a proxy for his mother to sell all his properties and file his resignation to the Egyptian parliament, state TV and all the other places where he works, once he has left the country.

Okasha revealed that he will resign while he is abroad in order for him to be protected by his parliamentary immunity while he is still in Egypt.
