The April 6 Movement described the ruling regime in Egypt as “fascist” on Monday. It also accused the regime of trying to liquidate any opposition.

In a statement the movement criticised the Egyptian authority’s arrest of two members of its political bureau, Ayman Abdul Majeed and Mohammed Nabil.

The statement read: “The regime’s security forces have arrested at dawn today two colleagues, Ayman Abdul Majeed and Mohammed Nabil after storming their houses in Cairo, without permission as part of its crackdown on the movement.”

“It has become clear to everyone that the regime is trying to liquidate entities that align with the people, which reveals the regime’s lies and corruption,” the statement added.

The movement also stated that it will continue its peaceful struggle until the full achievement of the revolution goals.

An Egyptian court banned the movement on 28 April 2014.
