Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi yesterday arrived in the Gaza Strip to follow up on reconstruction projects implemented with the support of his country.
A source told the Anadolu Agency that Ambassador Emadi entered the Gaza Strip through the Israeli-controlled Erez crossing.
The Qatari Ambassador visits Gaza often to follow up on projects in the housing and infrastructure sectors, funded by Qatar.
Qatar has funded the construction of 1,000 housing units as part of the $1 billion grant pledged by the Gulf state during the Cairo Conference.
In October 2014, Arab and international countries pledged to provide about $5.4 billion, almost half of it to be allocated for the reconstruction of Gaza, while the other half was set to provide for the needs of Palestinians. To date, only part of the amount has been provided.
Israel launched a war on the Gaza Strip in July 2014, which resulted in the complete destruction of 12,000 housing units.
