Yemeni officials arrive in Egypt to discuss cooperation

Yemen’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister arrived in Cairo on Friday morning at the start of a 5-day visit, Almesryoon.com has reported. Abdul-Malik Al-Mekhlafi and his colleague will meet a number of Egyptian officials and discuss developments in Yemen and possible cooperation.

Both of the Yemeni officials are also due to take part in the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League scheduled to start next weekend.

Saudi Arabia, supported by a number of Arab countries including Egypt, started a military operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen in March last year. The coalition operation came in response to the call of Yemen’s President, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi following the rebels’ occupation of a number of cities across the country.
