Fifty-nine Jordanian lawmakers demanded on Wednesday the government release Jordanian soldier Ahmed Al- Daqamseh, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing seven Israeli tourists in 1997.

In a letter addressed to Parliament Speaker Atef Tarawneh, the MPs said: “We demand the government release Jordanian soldier Ahmed Daqamseh because of the deterioration of his health, as well as the long-humanitarian suffering for him and his family.”

MP Osaib Jamaani explained that Daqamseh has been in prison since 3 December 1997 and had already spent two decades behind bars.

This is not the first time Jordanian lawmakers have demanded the release of Daqamseh.

In December, 110 MPs out of 150 demanded the government release him in a letter.
