Benkirane first PM to join Regency Council in Morocco

Moroccan Ministerial Council has approved the membership of Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane in the country’s Regency Council.

In exclusive statements to Quds Press, Benkirane confirmed the news that the prime minister is now a member of the Regency Council, making him the first head of a Moroccan government to occupy this position.

The Regency Council functions as an advisory body to the King until he has turned 20.

Abdelilah Benkirane, who heads the current government since 29 November 2011, has been the secretary-general of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) in Morocco since July 2008.
