Israel-Greece rapprochement is ‘unjustified retreat’ by Athens, claims PFLP

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has described the current rapprochement between Israel and Greece as an “unjustified retreat” in Athens’ position on the Palestinians, Quds Press reported on Friday.

“The official Greek stances,” insisted the PFLP, “do not represent the real feelings of the friendly Greek people and their historic stance towards the Palestinian cause.” The movement said that it has passed its comments to a number of senior Greek officials, in addition to the leftist Syriza Alliance.

The PFLP noted that the rapprochement is being carried out between a right-wing government in Israel and a Greek administration with a leftist agenda. It also pointed out that it comes amidst the increasing isolation of the “Zionist entity” under the effect of the international boycott campaigns.

“We believe that the massive popular support for the rights of the Palestinians is still strong,” the PFLP added. “None of the official deals between the Israeli government and the Greek government will affect this.”
