Israel has issued and renewed 191 administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners since the start of 2016, Palestinian Prisoners’ Centre for Studies revealed yesterday.

According to a statement reported by the Palestinian news agency Safa, Israeli authorities have carried out mass arrest campaigns against Palestinian youths and due to the lack of charges, they were given prison terms without trials.

They also renewed the administrative detention of a number of Palestinian prisoners who have been held on “secret charges”.

The majority of the prisoners, 71, are from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, while 33 are from Ramallah, 24 are from Jerusalem, 15 from Jenin while the remainder are from the remainder of the occupied West Bank.

The centre renewed its calls for the Palestinian Authority to raise the issue of administrative detentions to the ICC as soon as possible as it has become a “nightmare” that ruins the life of Palestinians.
