March 1, 2016 at 12:48 pm

Israeli naval forces yesterday arrested nine Palestinian fishermen in the sea off Gaza.

A spokesman for the Palestinian police, Ayman al-Batniji, told Quds Press that “a number of Israeli gunboats surrounded, on Monday afternoon, two boats carrying nine Palestinian fishermen aboard in the sea off the northern Gaza Strip, then pulled them to the Israeli port of Ashdod.”

He added that the arrest and the confiscation of the two boats took place within the six nautical miles which they are allowed to fish in as per the terms of the ceasefire.

Israeli naval forces yesterday opened fire on Palestinian fishermen off the northern Gaza Strip; no casualties were reported.

This assault adds to a series of violations that have been carried out by the occupation forces since a truce agreement came into effect on 26 August 2014.
