March 1, 2016 at 1:03 pm

Kuwait and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) yesterday signed a Transit Agreement within the framework of strengthening the partnership and cooperation between the two sides.

Kuwait News Agency, which reported the news, quoted the first Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who signed the agreement with the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, asserting that “the Transit Agreement between Kuwait and NATO is another brick added to the partnership existing between the two sides that aims to facilitate the passage of NATO troops through the territory of Kuwait, which will contribute to strengthening our capabilities in the face of our security challenges.”

Stoltenberg said the agreement “will facilitate the transit of personnel, supplies and equipment to the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan. It also aims to make future NATO activities in the region more effective.”
