March 1, 2016 at 12:18 pm

Qatari envoy to Gaza Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi yesterday arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Erez crossing in a surprise visit which is due to tackle “political and economic” issues, AlKhaleejOnline reported.

A senior Palestinian official said: “Al-Emadi and his deputy Khalid Al-Hardan arrived in Gaza without prearrangements,” noting the visit came in the wake of political developments relating to the Strip.

Al-Emadi is due to meet Hamas officials Ismail Haniyeh, Khalil Al-Hayya and Ziad Al-Zaza to discuss the ceasefire between the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and Israel and its consequences mainly on the seaport and airport.

In addition, the Palestinian officials said that Al-Emadi would discuss several economic matters including a Qatari gas pipeline to the electricity plant in Gaza which Israel agreed to on Thursday, Hamad Residential City, the hospital for prosthetic limbs and other infrastructure projects.

Al-Emadi’s visit is scheduled to last four days.
