Egypt barters for support for its Arab League nominee

Egypt is trying to muster Qatari support for its Arab League nominee in exchange for support for Doha’s UNESCO hopeful, local media reported.

However, according to AlKhaleejOnline, an Egyptian foreign ministry source denied the reports. In comments to Emirates24 he said: “It is early to speak about supporting or not supporting the Qatari UNESCO nominee.”

Qatar did not comment on the reports.

London-based newspaper Al-Hayat reported senior diplomatic sources saying that Egypt had received support from some of the Arab-African countries and is still waiting for a united GCC reply.
