TV channel owned by Saudi billionaire to broadcast from Doha

Saudi billionaire Al-Waleed Bin Talal’s new satellite channel will air from Doha, Qatar, after it was banned from Manama, Bahrain, last year, AlKhaleejOnline reported yesterday.

Media sources revealed that Bin Talal has already signed an agreement with the Qatari government. Al-Arab is due to be relaunched in the third quarter of this year.

The station was taken off air a couple of hours after it launched after it hosted a member of the Bahraini opposition.

Bahrain said the channel did not have the necessary licenses to begin broadcasting, Al-Arab denied this saying Manama wanted to place restrictions that undermine the station.
