The Egyptian army has fallen eight places within 24 hours in a ranking of the world’s most powerful militaries prepared by website Global Firepower.
Egypt is now at number 18 in a list of 125 of the world’s armies after falling from tenth place, sparking anger among many Egyptians who questioned the site’s credibility.
Egypt’s Al-Watan newspaper has criticised the site, describing the lowering of the Egyptian army ranking as a “manipulation”.
According to the site, the Egyptian army came first in the Arab world, followed by Algeria, which was placed at number 27, and Saudi Arabia at 28.
