Qatar includes Patriot defence system to its military cache

Qatar has added the Patriot defence system to its weapons arsenal, AlKhaleejOnline.com reported a senior official saying yesterday.

Commander of the Qatar Emiri Air Force Major General Pilot Mubarak Bin Mohamed Al-Kumait Al-Khayarin announced the information during the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2016). He said the military exhibition has seen significant progress since its inception.

He said that the participants of this conference dramatically increased and exhibited a variety of technologies, adding that a lot of advanced equipment has been procured by the Qatari armed forces.

The Qatari News Agency (QNA) reported him saying that the inclusion of the Patriot missile defence system will secure the country, stressing that all air force capabilities will be utilised to support the navy.

Al-Khayarin noted that there are partnerships and agreements with many countries manufacturing military vehicles, tanks and armoured vehicles, and that the air force plans to make some deals during the expo.
