EU delegation visits Gaza

April 5, 2016 at 10:12 am

An eight-member European delegation visited the Gaza Strip on Monday and was shown the devastation left by the last Israeli offensive, Anadolu reported.

The delegation, which was chaired by EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Fernando Gentilini, entered into the Gaza Strip through Israel’s Erez Crossing.

According to an anonymous source in Gaza’s Crossings Committee, the delegation planned to spend just a few hours in the coastal enclave.

In addition to seeing the devastation left by the 2014 war on Gaza, the delegation was due to meet UN officials in Gaza, according to the source.

Since the end of the 2014 offensive, a number of international officials, including European delegations, have visited the Gaza Strip. However, Israel has prevented several delegations from entering the blockaded enclave for unknown reasons.
