The Head of the Tunisian Human Rights League has passed the Nobel Peace Prize won by his country’s National Dialogue Quartet last year to Palestinian politician Marwan Barghouti, who is behind bars in Israel. Fadhel Moussa handed the award to Barghouti’s wife Fadwa in a ceremony at the Palestine Embassy in Tunis on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Palestinian Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs, Issa Qaraqe, Palestine’s Ambassador Hayel Fahoum and Ambassador Alternate Omar Daqqah. The secretaries-general of a number of Tunisian political parties, representatives of the Tunisian General Labour Union and other personalities were also present.
Moussa said that the Quartet has stressed during its visits to Europe since winning the Nobel Prize that there will be no peace in the world without peace in the land of Palestine.
