Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has warned of the impossibility of finding a solution to the issue of the unrecognised villages in the Negev.

Rivlin’s statements came during a speech before the 7th annual Negev conference, which began on Tuesday morning in Yeruham, southern Israel.

The Israeli president stressed that “a negotiated settlement” must be reached with the Bedouin of the Negev “especially in the unrecognised villages”.

He warned that no development will take place in the region without reaching a settlement regarding Bedouin residents’ housing.

The conference addresses the issue of the unrecognised villages of the Negev.
