Jubouri says Iraqi Parliament to set plans to accelerate reforms

April 22, 2016 at 11:01 am

Iraq’s Parliament is to set detailed plans to accelerate the implementation of reforms, Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jubouri said yesterday.

“The House of Representatives is waiting for Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi’s proposal for a Cabinet reshuffle to vote on it as a first step in the reform process,” Al-Jubouri is reported to have said during a meeting with British Ambassador to Iraq, Frank Baker.

Meanwhile, the Presidium of the Iraqi Parliament has decided to resume its work starting Sunday after it halted parliamentary sessions on Tuesday.

The decision came after an extraordinary session held at the invitation of Iraqi President Fuad Masum on Tuesday failed to resolve the parliamentary crisis.
