The Palestinian Authority is only committed to maintaining the safety of the occupation and cracks down on any Palestinian opposes the occupation, Quds Press yesterday reported Hamas MP in the West Bank Basem Al-Zareer saying.

“The PA and its security services have been seeking to extinguish the Jerusalem Intifada by arresting the youth and undermining the resistance,” Al-Zareer said in a press release.

“The arrest campaign carried out by the PA security services against the Palestinian youths in Bethlehem is part of the security cooperation which the PA has been working to reinforce instead of seeking Palestinian rights and security.”

He said the situation on the ground points to a new policy of “concessions in order to return back to negotiating table.”

Earlier, Hamas said that the PA security services had escalated their security campaigns against its members and the other resistance factions.

The statement noted that the PA arrested nine Palestinians and summoned thee others for interrogation yesterday. On Tuesday, Hamas said that the PA arrested six and summoned three others for interrogations.

In addition, it said that the PA Public Prosecution extended the detention of five Palestinian accusing them of planning to carry out an attack against the Israeli occupation.
